Creating exciting yet effective strategies for evaluating and teaching power mobility skills can be difficult. During this session participants will learn tips and tricks for creating a successful power mobility training program. First considerations to keep in mind when setting-up the environment, communication techniques, and expectations of the end user and the entire team will be reviewed. Next strategies and activity ideas for developing skills while the client is not in a power wheelchair (i.e. home, school, day treatment program, etc.) will be discussed followed by curriculum ideas for power mobility training sessions while the client is “behind the wheel."

Objectives:
1. Identify at least three strategies that go into creating an environment for successful power mobility training.
2. List three activities an end user can engage in to practice power mobility driving skill development while not in a power wheelchair.
3. Describe five activities that can be incorporated into the curriculum of power mobility training session.

CEU Requirements:
1) Sign in before the class begins
2) Be present for at least 90% of the class
3) Complete quiz with a minimum 80% passing score
4) Complete evaluation
